What i would say about this has been mentioned on Zack, but i say it again. It is animal cruelty, but it's fiction, i just have a wee tingle when i do this, i don't know why... of course i am very animal friendly and would certainly not appreciate this in the real world!

Anyhow, this is about a fat, lazy, greedy and overweight striped skunk called Mepit and an over-worked, independent, jumpy and fun Virginia opossum called Algon. Two of my fave animals! :) Enjoy!

Also, some people may find this a but repulsive... so if you are sensitive then i reccomend not reading this...

The Beginning

Mepit’s feet began to feel cold, but the light of the end of the tunnel was near. Mepit was a striped skunk, and was no more than a few weeks old, her brothers and sisters had already left, and she was growing hungry, but she knew that when she got out there would be a lovely fresh supply of milk from mommy. She was fat for a young one, and would always drink mommy’s milk until she was tired, then slept, then drank; it was a fantastic life. But now it was over, she was about to get her first glimpse of the world, then she could go  back in with mommy and drink, and sleep, and drink, and sleep. She finally got out and popped out the hole.

“Mommy! Mommy!” She cried, frilled at the light, “It is heaven out here! I’ve got for days without food, where have you been!”  mommy sighed, it had only been a few hours, but Mepit needed all she could get. Four other kits where suckling and she was already tired, she was glad that Mepit was finally outside. They climbed back inside and the others fell asleep, Mepit came up to mommy and began right away. It had been four hours precisely, and Mepit was used to being fed once about every thirty minutes. She suckled and suckled until mommy was weak; her ribs began to show. It wasn’t for a few hours that Mepit stopped, and after that mommy was reduced to a worthless bag of bones. Soon morning came and the kits returned to feed, noon came and passed when mommy sighed weakly:

“Kits, you are to old to depend on me, go on now and learn to hunt.” The four kids toddled off to learn forward from here, Mepit stayed. Mommy got up, her legs seemed so far apart and she could barely walk, Mepit on the other hand, who had taken litres more than the rest, was bloated to top, she pressed against her mother’s teat and suckled, but nothing but dust came out. Mommy, who was now nothing but some muscles, bones and organs, collapsed on the floor.

Mepit made her  way after about an hour, the belly reached the floor, she began to walk along a some logs, held together by metal parts. The evening soon came when Mepit was halfway across the bridge her muscles where still small and a belly of such size was heavy, she curled up against her tail and slept. But soon after she dozed off a train came whizzing by, Mepit woke up just in time and ran, but she couldn’t run fast, she saw her end when suddenly something shot by and grabbed her. She opened her eyes and saw a small, dirty fuzzy black and white thing, she went closer.

“It doesn’t have any suckers?” she pondered to herself, and noticed, was this hunting? Had she hunted down this little fuzzy thing? It looked dead? It was no smaller than her but she sighed, closed her eyes and opened her mouth as big as she could. She snapped it shut but to her surprise the ‘thing’ had moved. “Are you alive?” She asked. Suddenly the thing had burst into life. Equipped with a tail and head.

“What are you?” Continued Mepit… “A squirrel, a rat? You look like a rat?”

Playing Opossum!” It cried, balancing on his foot. (which isn’t a good thing to do then on the steel pole of a railway bridge…) He drooped down and sighed, “It never works though…”

“Opossum?”

“Small, furry, black and white, nocturnal, cute, dead, pouch… equals opossum!”

“Where are your suckles?” There was a brief pause,

“Ok, one, I’m male, two, your head won’t fit in the pouch…” He held out his hand, “Name? Mine’s is Algon.”

“Uh, Mepit…” They shook hands, what happened there? they became friends, but the story itself has just begun…

The second story, this was originally thrid but i changed it a bit and now it's got the second beginning and the third end.

Don't have a clue what I'm gonna do for the third through...

Broken Leg Syndrome

Mepit and Algon made their way through the forest; they hadn’t eaten since breakfast, and had been walking ever since, Algon with his axe and Mepit with a giant belly, being carried on mere pencils.

“When’s lunch?” Mepit asked, Algon replied with a usual answer:

“You’ve just had breakfast.” Mepit was exhausted, and Algon went a bit too fast, what she wasn’t used to, what she was used to was walking along with her belly dragging on the floor. Winter was turning in and the food needed to be rationed however.

Mepit walked slowly, in comparison to the ever-energetic Algon.

“Come on mep,” Algon cried, Mepit tugged and a tree root her foot had caught onto, it was from the thickset tree,  that would never break, not even with the axe. Algon raced through the trees waiting for her, he was in his years, but was a kid at heart, he slipped and rolled over to Mepit, still tugging. Algon was big, Mepit was small, the root was very very strong, and Algon crashed right into them, and Mepit gave a scream in pain, she looked down at a twisted and broken foot. Algon wrapped it in leaves and gave her a berry, while she rested and healed, he would have to do everything for her.

Mepit slept and ate just like old times, but now she had all the food she needed, she was surrounded by food and loved the taste, a month or to passed and she had eaten at least fifty trees. How she got them? From Algon axed from the trees, he bared ate himself, when Mepit was asleep she was sleeping; there was little free time in-between. At the end of winter Mepit had to have moved outside, she was huge! She was always lying down, but she also lied about the foot, it never seemed to heal… Soon even by demand the food got less and less, Algon spent so long looking and this was the dead of winter. Mepit began to shrink, but was still rather big. After a while Algon came.

“Almon whare wur you? Av bun wating too long?” She murmured, at last she could see over her belly.

“Look, we should split, you’re to dependent…” Mepit acted sad

“Abandon me?” She opened her eyes to see him, he wasn’t himself, he wasn’t triangular, he came in at the middle; his ribs where barely visible and sweat pored from his face. Suddenly Algon ran, Mepit looked up to see the wickedest bear! She tried to get onto her feet to run but her belly was to big. Algon ran behind and pushed but she was to heavy. Algon tried to get her onto her hind but that didn’t work either, they where both staring death in the eye! Then, all so silently, Mepit farted, and there is nothing… repeat nothing worse than a skunk fart.

Algon sat down by the logs, a fire keeping his warm, Mepit raced to tree to tree collecting berried for her friend, she was tired and hungry, but not as much as Algon.

"You know Mepit," He began, "If you had just admitted your leg was better, you could have gotten out of this." Mepit sighed 'next time', she thought 'next time'.

I kinda made this up as i went along so it's pretty basic, but it kinda give's an animals eye view of a zoo. Especially when their roommante it s as ignorant as Mepit!

Help! I’ve been kidnapped!

Algon and Mepit went to sleep. It was good food week and they had been stuffing their face like there was no tomorrow, Mepit could barely fit in the den. Algon had also put on quite a bit of weight through the week and he could feel his belly getting tight. As they began to drift off to sleep Algon suddenly heard something, it was not big enough for a bear, but too big for a sheep. He squeezed out the hole and Mepit desperately pulled at her middle.

“Midnight snack?” She mumbled.

“Shush, it’s one of the monsters.” ‘The monster’ turned around, he was tall, thin and wore artificial fur. He laid down a trap and laid some bait, Mepit ran to it immediately, Algon tried to grab her but it just caused him and Mepit to get trapped in the cage. They ran around desperate to find a way out, when they where hit by two little darts. Algon awoke later than Mepit, in a cage not much bigger than the first, Mepit took up a lot of room while the munched away at the food dish.

“This is great!” She mumbled, Algon squeezed past and gazed at an empty food bowl, it was a few inches long and quite deep.

“Where’s the food?”

“That’s my food, I’m eating yours.”

“What? Let me have it!”

“Your wish.” Mepit moved her hefty load across the cage, Algon looked into the bowl, all that remained was a pitiful crumb.

Weeks passed, Mepit always somehow made it to the bowl first, and slowly Algon got thinner and thinner, they where moved to another enclosure, but it was the same. After a month Mepit was big and became a huge attraction, being the only of her species in the zoo. While Algon always sat in the corner, his whole body feeling weak. The monsters originally intended on letting them go, but it seemed if Mepit didn’t go, neither would he. A little girl watched him though the bars, she held a baguette, piece by piece the gave the bread to him, soon it was gone and Algon felt full, this monster was a friend, she suddenly ran over and got another baguette, she was about to feed until the man came over, the same man as before.

“Stacy! Why are you giving it bread!”

“It was hungry.” The man stared at Algon, he too was a friend.

Within the next week a new striped skunk came, she grasped the audience thanks to her amazing skills such as summersaults. Algon and Mepit where taken back to the forest next to the man, Algon finally got to put on some weight and Stacy came almost weekly. It didn’t take long for Mepit to become a cannonball again eith

Now for the fourth of our storie's and, sadly, our last... who knows, maybe someday we'll have a sequel?

By the way, if you think this story's a bit sad, Mepit deserved what she got. There i said it... do you not agree?

Good Beginning, Same (Bad) End

Mepit was pregnant. She didn’t quite know how, but it must have been at least a month ago. It was deep spring, Mepit had just reached adulthood. Algon had also met a girl, she was pretty  and kind, and was an experienced mother. The two walked along the road, Algon skipped along with happy thoughts, Mepit tried to follow but had to drag at least two pounds of belly behind, she was tired and, obviously, hungry. After a while she got immobile, her belly and her womb where to big together. Algon helped her but said that ‘after giving birth, she could survive alone’. After a few long hours of labour, Mepit sat by a proud eight children, four slept, four instantly started sucking, Mepit's mom had made sure they all started sucking, but she didn’t care. After a bit they swapped roles, Mepit waited for them both to sleep so that she could get something to eat, but they didn’t.

After a few hours, Mepit began to twitch for hunger, but she couldn’t abandon the babies. After a few days, hunger was her brain, she was much smaller. It felt so weird, the babies kept sucking, so much in a gulp, sometimes she could actually feel her stomach getting smaller. She gazed down at the babies, they where nearly as big as her. A week passed, the mild was lower, much lower, her ribs were visible and her legs where weak. Two weeks and the babies where nearly as big as a football, but Mepit was skinny, the widest part of her body was her chest, at an inch, all babies sucked at once, desperate far hydration, but there was none, not a drip, not a teeny little microlitre, but they thrived, not this thing, barley alive, a skeleton, organs and veins where literally all that was there. The cubs left the nest in hope of new food, but one stayed, the only girl, the looked at the lifeless face, great big cups under the eyes had fallen to the floor. She touched Mepit, she was cold, she picked up her skin, it was so free, so dry. She felt her ribs, between each was at least an inch. Algon came, he looked at the skunk and it’s mother.

“When Mepit was young…” He explained, “This same thing happened, her mother survived though.” He looked at the body, he felt it, he rubbed it, he stroked it. As cold as ice, and hard as rock. Baby skunk sucked but nothing, nothing but air came out.

Mepit had died.

Algon and baby skunk (newly named Salavation) wandered the forest, Algon’s mate kicked him out. It was nice with Salavation, she didn’t complain, and she lost weight quickly. Algon dropped her off at the house of Simon the zookeeper, Algon never seen what happened, but he did remember Salavation, she was at a place that she could never get overfed or underfed. After two years she was dropped off at the forest again, she met Algon, they became close friends and even made a successful  fat camp. Friend ship became life, then they had four little babies… Gewet, Elmie, Iyen, and most fattest of all, Little Mepit.
